In Case You Forgot...

Blogger's Note:  I originally posted this in the blog.com account on 12/19/10.  Given the events of the past week, I thought we could use the reminder.  And besides, who DOESN'T love it when Linus recites the Gospel of Luke.

With all of the hustle and bustle of the season - folks doing the shopping thing, the party thing, the caroling thing, and every other thing – not to mention all of the arguing, fussing, and fighting that seems to have been taken to the next level of late over “Merry Christmas” vs. “Happy Holidays”, it’s easy to forget exactly what we’re celebrating and why. So, in the spirit of the holiday, I’d like to offer this reminder. Fair warning to all of the Atheists, Jews, Muslims, and various other groups and individuals who don’t celebrate the holiday. You know I love and respect you all, but this time you’re just going to bear with me ‘cause I’m about to go all Christmas on ya’.

From the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 2:8-14
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Wishing all of you the very best of the Holiday Season.
